Does the Academy miss the boat when it comes to giving out awards?

Why are the Dramas only considered for acting, directing, etc.? ALL categories should be allocated the same worth when it comes to acting, directing, cinematography, writing, music, etc, not just dramas. Peter Sellers and Leslie Neilson have both rocked the world of cinema with their acting abilities in the fine comedies they’ve been in. And, Blake Edwards has been long, long overdue in the Best Director category for his comedies. What about fantasy films, like Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Lord Of The Rings, Indiana Jones, Back To The Future, etc, etc? Horror films: What about the fine acting in Poltergeist, The Haunting, Jaws, etc, etc.? I guess it just has to be considered “serious” to qualify with the Academy. Dramas, dramas, dramas. Ridiculous isn’t it? Probably the MOST incredibly boring Academy Award winning movie I’ve ever seen is Out Of Africa. What a waste of time!!

no they totally miss it, the movies that the average person likes(just by looking at how much money they make) are stuff like Transformers, Batman, Spiderman, and all of the Comedies, like 40 Year Old Virgin, dont even get looked at. Those awards arent made for average movie fans, i sometimes wonder the age of the people who are on this so called academy, cause i would rather watch Transformers over Capote any day. I guess it shows how good the actors are but all movies have some great acting performances, I would just rather watch the MTV movie awards, they do the stuff that average people care about, best fight, best kiss stuff like that

As I See It $8.09 I write for pleasure and when I feel strongly about something I find it much easier to be articulate writing my feelings down than trying to explain myself vocally. Some of the poems I wrote when my marriage broke down after twenty years are quite dark and depressing, but there is always the golden thread of hope running through which lifts the spirit at the end. It would be nice to think that readers of my work could relate to some of my sentiments, especially the humour in poems like "The Ironing Pile" and "The Driving Test". Those of you who are grandparents could well feel the same as I did when my grandson was born in 1996, he was the inspiration for "For Leo"/ And for all those of you with military connections, please look for "Falkland – Malvinas", "To Keep The Peace For You & Me" and "Thanks To Wootton Bassett". Actually having my poetry published at last is a lifetime dream come true for me, and it will make me very happy indeed to have a few readers and for my poems to make them laugh, cry and think.
