Desperado
is Desperado supposed to be a serious movie?
cos its a joke to me, its over the top, its silly, its far fetched.
It’s not supposed to be a silly spoof, but it’s meant to be over the top and a lot of fun. It’s not a comedy and people die and stuff, but it’s not supposed to be taken seriously. It’s not a crime drama or an action thriller. Robert Rodriguez (the director) loves over-the-top action, violence, and humor.
Other Rodriguez films include “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” (the sequel to “Desperado”, featuring Johnny Depp), “From Dusk Till Dawn” (a vampire flick with George Clooney and Harvey Keitel), “Planet Terror” (a zombie-type film from the “Grindhouse” project with Quentin Tarantino), and “Sin City” (based on Frank Miller’s graphic novels). Rodriguez is also the director behind the “Spy Kids” franchise and “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl”.
But “Desperado” is just supposed to be a good time. Crazy action, silly gags, sexy stars, and a lot of fun.
